The pottery was beeing built slowly while in the same time it had to produce ware. Raw clay was collected from near-by river beds and went through the long process of screening, mixing, drying and wedging (by foot and hand) before it was usable.
Most of the bricks used to build the pottery were made on site from this same clay.
